about the piece
acrylic on canvas. this piece was inspired by sunny's cultural roots. persimmons in chinese culture represent luck and good fortune. the different iterations of the persimmon drying on the string were inspired by the japanese practice of hoshigaki, where persimmons are hung and air dried until they are candied to perfection.
